I’m on the job market.

My research examines how decentralized policy implementation shapes outcomes. I focus on the local actors and governments that determine whether broader policy goals are achieved or undermined.

My job market paper provides the first causal estimates of how crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) affect fertility outcomes. Using a 30-year county panel from North and South Carolina and a new simulation-based instrumental variables approach, I find that CPCs reduce local abortion rates by 8 to 18 percent, with the largest effects among teenagers and young women.

In published and working papers, I study how municipal building codes affect residential solar adoption in Germany and California.
